The first type of Tier 2 General Application is used by skilled workers who have been hired by a UK-based company or organization and self-employed people wishing to visit the United Kingdom in order to carry out certain tasks such as checking the installation of machinery. Doctors, lawyers, and scientists also fit into this category if they work in their field for a UK-based company or organization.
Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer Visa applications are made by employees currently employed with a foreign branch of a UK-registered company who wish to transfer their employment from one branch to another within the same business enterprise. Applicants must be transferred from the foreign branch to the UK branch of the company for a specific assignment, must have worked for their employer overseas for at least six months prior to their transfer, and must already hold a valid visa allowing them to work in that country. Once transferred into Britain, applicants are issued with a Tier 2 General Visitor Visa which will be valid until both employment assignments are finished.
Tier 1 or Tier 2 Visitors visa applications require support documents including job offers in writing, proof of financial resources available to cover travel costs, and evidence of strong ties to your home country such as property ownership, family dependents living there full time, or binding employment status with no intention of working in the United Kingdom.
